What Should I Do?
This is the fifth day of week 4, Friday 3 February 2012
I am lost.
I usually work, teach and do on-line tasks simultaneously here at the office.
Since two days ago everything has seemed to be difficult. Electricity black out and Internet system was shut down frequently in this Institution. Sometimes is ON and and then suddenly OFF.
I typed and saved the assignment and keep on sending it. Yes one was sent then the internet service gone again.
This morning, everything seems OK, but now only this 'blog page' can be operated. How can I live with it? I would say that maybe this is the bad side of technology besides its many good sides.
Lift up your spirit

Dear Imas, I just found a proverb I don't know if it is of any comfort but I'll paste it here:
ReplyDelete“Technology makes it possible for people to gain control over everything, except over technology”
(John Tudor quotes)
URL: http://thinkexist.com/quotations/technology/
I know it might be irritating but I usually write some proverbs or quotations on the students' (word)tests sometimes they translate them or write down some other proverb on the same theme.
Don't give up, Imas
greetings,
Sinikka
Dear Sinikka,
DeleteThat is the best proverb to reflect my conditon right now. Poor me I can't control technology at the time I needed it deadly.
Thanks alot Sinikka.

Imas, remember the song "Don't worry. Be happy."?
ReplyDeleteWell, that's what you'll have to do. I'm sure our teachers will understand that sometimes it's not only the odds that are against us, it's everything! Keep doing it and be on the look out for a good moment when it all works.
Dear Luisa,
DeleteYou are right! Singing a song like the one that you mentioned might be self entertaining.
It has been OK since last night though!
I hope there won't be any hassle after this.
Regards,
Imas
Imas,
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of Week 2 I had a problem with my computer which was luckily resolved quickly. But I was in such a state that it took the joined efforts of my family to calm me down.
I love Sinikka's quote. Technology is like that.
We are all with you and hope that things get better.
Dear Natasa,
DeleteI was thinking of being alone in this trouble, but I am wrong. You and many participants in this class are so helpful.
I involved not only my family but also my colleagues in the office and now almost all of you to share such a burden.
Please forgive me thank you.

Bu Imas,
ReplyDeleteI feel the way you feel for internet connection. I think this problem will make us more patient in acquainting with technology to take the advantages of it. I have the same situation with my modem from last week. However, we have to keep it seriously simple, so that we will not have a high tense because of bad connection. I always say to myself what Gus Dur always stated, "Gitu aja kok repot" when I find difficulty and deal with a problem. Let's enjoy every situation we have, so life will be much easier to live.
Have nice day
Vita
Hello Bu Vita,
DeleteIs this Internet connection becoming a national problem? But you are correct about getting patient. I was too panic, now I can manage it a little bit better. That was because of the recovery of this connection.
I have to learn not only the Internet for web interactive classroom teaching aspects but also to be more mature in handling my emotion. As our belated President Gus Dur always said...!
Keep in touch.
